Wagner Structural Solutions is experienced in designing and evaluating building structural systems and nonbuilding structures. Along with design for new structural systems and elements we can evaluate existing structures to understand load carrying capabilities for continued use or proposed alternate use.

Our projects range from narrow focus, single element design and analysis to comprehensive building structural systems design and analysis.

Typical design projects include preparation of comprehensive structural engineering drawing packages, responding to plan reviewer and contractor questions during the bidding and construction process and completing shop drawing reviews for contractor submittals.

Typical analysis projects include preparation of written letter reports which outline project purpose, background, analysis basis, analysis results and general recommendations or recommended course of action.

Structural studies are typically conducted to assist our customers in understanding the impacts their proposed project or idea will have on their operation. Examples of projects requiring a structural study include the following:

• Roof top unit and cooling tower additions or replacements • Solar panel additions • Proposed alternative use for existing floor systems, mezzanines, or other structures • Hanging or supporting new loads from existing structures • Partial demolition or reconfiguration of existing structural systems • Removal and partial removal of load bearing walls • Floor and roof penetrations • Supporting new loads on existing foundations • Determining floor, roof, or structural element capacity

As buildings and other structures are subjected to wear throughout their service life, slow degradation of structural systems, reduced element performance, and ultimately reduced reliability are possible. It is often necessary to evaluate and understand the condition of an existing structure for various reasons such as continued use, retrofit, replacement planning, maintenance, or alternate use.

We conduct structural observations and assessments of existing building and nonbuilding structural elements and systems and prepare a written report which includes the purpose of the assessment, area of review, photo documentation, discussion of findings and results and recommendations or recommended course of action.
